Christmas Reflections

The hustle and bustle of Christmas is half over, Tom's family is celebrating their holiday on the New Year's weekend. I still have a couple of gifts to purchase because I simply ran out of steam trying to prepare for Christmas day. We had the kids over playing games till early in the morning and then was up till 5am wrapping gifts--4 hours of sleep is NOT enough!! As hard as I try I think the next year will be different but each year it comes down to the last minute. ; )
Don't you just love the feeling you get when you find a gift that really fits the person! My son found DH a special "over/under" barrelled break-away shot gun that he had been wanting for a long time. The look on his face was priceless. I was able to find a Nintendo Wii and surprise my son with it and the look on his face was sheer joy. The love you feel from the hugs you get from one of your kids - a teenage son - is something I will never forget.

The holidays aren't joyful for everyone though. I feel for those who are sad. I miss my dad. It's been 3 years since he passed on Dec. 22. I'll never forget that Christmas. I had spent a month at the hospital with him and had no gifts for my kids. I wouldn't have traded the time with him for anything. It just always makes me sad around the Holidays because I remember how much he loved them. Especially the cookies - he would sneak and get the cookies and hide them so mom couldn't see that he had them. ; )

Christmas Eve we sent a ham with my son to and older couple who was friends of his who lost their home on Thanksgiving day and got news last night that the husband was killed in a car accident. I can't begin to imagine the pain and suffering that family has endured this holiday season. We think he was crossing the highway and his car was struck.

Delaney Frances Kay Frank makes her Debut

In the midst of all the Christmas craziness - little Delaney Frances Kay Frank - my first grand daughter was born Thursday morning in the wee hours of the morning. She weighed in at 7.4 and is a mere 19" long. She looks just like her daddy, Casey with that strawberry blond hair. I noticed she was turning to Casey's voice. Shauna was doing well and Saxon was singing BaaBaa Black Sheep to her. : ) What a cutie she is.
