Delaney's 1st Princess Birthday
Little Bitty Princess Delaney turned 1 today. She is just adorable. She was mesmerized by all the candles on the oreo ice cream cake that she shared with her Godfather, Uncle Carey, whose birthday is tomorrow. Her princess birthday party for friends and family including her 2 Great Grandmothers Claudette and Mary was last weekend because everyone is so busy with Christmas being so close this weekend; but we celebrated today with dinner out at one of our favorite family restaurants and she ate fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and applesauce. And then topped it off with orange sherbet! Yum Yum!
She is blowing kisses now and says hi and waves. Has 2-3 teeth. She stands beside the sofa and walks behind a little walking toy but not walking on her own yet. Happy Birthday sweetheart. Happy Birthday Carey.

Homecoming 2008
This weekend was homecoming with Carey pulling the volleyball girls' float in the parade, the football game was held, and finally the dance. We spent most of Sunday afternoon taking pictures. Luckily it was nice a warm and the Governor's Gardens on the State Capitol Grounds still had beautiful flowers blooming to use for backdrops. We got there just before the rush so we didn't have a lot of people lurking in the background of our pictures. I always enjoy watching the parade of dresses and shoes through the Governor's Gardens. Some are quite funny trying to walk in 3" heels for the first time...I think they needed a little practice.

My Birthday Present
Little Miss Delaney has enough hair for little piggy tails on top of her head! Yep they are still red! lol She's 9 months old in this picture and it was on my birthday. No teeth yet. Not exactly crawling yet . She crawls on all 3's and holds one leg under her in case she wants to sit down. She loves to dance. She can stand beside the sofa by herself.

Laney and Grandma
Carly the "Spoiled" Yellow Lab
Mother's Day brought a new puppy my way. She was born March 23. Her registered name is Carly Ketsenberg's O'Bannon, named after her mother and father. Her mother was a black lab and her father was a beautiful light yellow lab. She seems to be taking to her kennel nicely. And seems to train easily. She has mastered the "Sit" command or she just likes to eat and knows that will get her a quick treat! : ) However she quickly pulled a large piece of my wallpaper off the wall in the kitchen the other night!!! If I could just get her to depaper the living room walls!!

Christmas Reflections
The hustle and bustle of Christmas is half over, Tom's family is celebrating their holiday on the New Year's weekend. I still have a couple of gifts to purchase because I simply ran out of steam trying to prepare for Christmas day. We had the kids over playing games till early in the morning and then was up till 5am wrapping gifts--4 hours of sleep is NOT enough!! As hard as I try I think the next year will be different but each year it comes down to the last minute. ; )
Don't you just love the feeling you get when you find a gift that really fits the person! My son found DH a special "over/under" barrelled break-away shot gun that he had been wanting for a long time. The look on his face was priceless. I was able to find a Nintendo Wii and surprise my son with it and the look on his face was sheer joy. The love you feel from the hugs you get from one of your kids - a teenage son - is something I will never forget.
The holidays aren't joyful for everyone though. I feel for those who are sad. I miss my dad. It's been 3 years since he passed on Dec. 22. I'll never forget that Christmas. I had spent a month at the hospital with him and had no gifts for my kids. I wouldn't have traded the time with him for anything. It just always makes me sad around the Holidays because I remember how much he loved them. Especially the cookies - he would sneak and get the cookies and hide them so mom couldn't see that he had them. ; )
Christmas Eve we sent a ham with my son to and older couple who was friends of his who lost their home on Thanksgiving day and got news last night that the husband was killed in a car accident. I can't begin to imagine the pain and suffering that family has endured this holiday season. We think he was crossing the highway and his car was struck.

Delaney Frances Kay Frank makes her Debut
In the midst of all the Christmas craziness - little Delaney Frances Kay Frank - my first grand daughter was born Thursday morning in the wee hours of the morning. She weighed in at 7.4 and is a mere 19" long. She looks just like her daddy, Casey with that strawberry blond hair. I noticed she was turning to Casey's voice. Shauna was doing well and Saxon was singing BaaBaa Black Sheep to her. : ) What a cutie she is.
